Which browsers are supported by the learning platform?

The learning platform is optimised for the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. Under MacOS, we recommend the use of Firefox.

Will my personal data be passed on to an external company (BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen GmbH)? 

The BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen GmbH was established in 2005 as a joint venture of Saxon universities (which also use to be the shareholders). Ever since, the BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen GmbH has assumed system maintenance and development of the learning platform on behalf of the Saxon universities.

An integral part of this infrastructure is a spread authentication mechanism (based on Shibboleth), which uses the login data from the university computer centres. In this way, no new logins need to be assigned by the BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen GmbH, since the existing university accounts can be used to log in to the learning platform. For such an infrastructure, it is necessary that data leave the servers of the universities - but of course only via secure connections. For this purpose, you have to agree on the terms of use at your registration.

The transmission of data to third parties is prohibited according to §4 of the terms of use. You can obtain free information about your personal data which are stored at the system operator BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen at any time: support@bps-system.de

I cannot log in, what am I supposed to do now?

Make sure that you are using the correct login data (user name and password). Via Forgot your password? on the login page, you can reset your password.

Whether you can set a new password depends on your institution and the configuration of the learning platform. Either the login data are centrally managed by the data centre of your university or you have to contact the support team of the learning platform.

How can I change my password?

 You can change your password in the section My Profile.

How can I change my last name? 

The master data (first name, last name) are centrally managed by the data centre of your university or institution and can thus not be independently changed within the learning platform. In this case, please consult the computer centre of your institution.

The WebDAV connection or the network drive does not work any more on Windows Vista and Windows 7. What am I supposed to do now? 

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the establishment of a WebDAV connection via a Windows network drive may cause problems. We recommend the use of a stand-alone programme. For further information, please refer to the section WebDAV connection.

I receive the message "Secure Connection Failed". What am I supposed to do now? 

Such warnings are displayed if the certificate of the DFN PKI is not (yet) included by default in the used browser. Affected are, for example, the products by Mozilla. The connection is securely encrypted despite this warning.

You may be able to configure an exception rule in your browser or to install the root certificate manually.
